The Center is currently conducting a research project to better understand which factors most influence school culture. Of particular interest, we are attempting to isolate key variables which seem to have the largest impact on student success within particular schools.
The focus of our research is to separate culture issues into categories which have direct, indirect or no impact on school success. Our ealier work in this area allowed us to observe many issues which caused culture turmoil within schools. Perhaps most perplexing in our earlier work, we discovered that some culture and climate related problems were weakly coorelated with school success while others were actually inversely related to school success.
Our approach is to continue building on tens of thousands of responses to our culture related survey questions and supplement the finds with qualitative insights generated by onsite focus groups. Through this we hope to generate a more comprehensive understanding of the linkage between culture, climate, teacher morale, student morale and student achievement k12 schools across North America.
COMMENTS? If you are a district administrator and are interested in participating in this study, please email me at swallace@ncfsl.org. Participants much be prepared to launch a district-wide employee, parent and studnet satisfaction survey. Due to the exhaustive nature of our individual site explorations, we regret that we cannot accomodate all requests to participate.
